About

Hi. I am Geetanjali.

I wanted to do something good in the world. Since I deal a lot with digital media, I thought why not build an app?

Kizora LogoThe great team at Kizora built this email signature app in 10 days flat. They are awesome.

I got in touch with some amazing people on flickr (see the photos from the movie here on Flickr). Their stories moved me. I want to thank all these wonderful photographers:

Anita Jing is an awesome young girl, barely out of college. She is from China has been travelling around the world helping people. She spent a month at “Anand Dan” in Kolkatta, Mother Teresa’s Home for the aged and ill.  Her photos of children living in the slums moved me.

I was so enthused to read Colin’s emails. Colin McQuillen runs Two thumbs Fresh, a Film and Photography Studion in Scotland. He spent some time in India last year. Read about what he felt when he met this old woman on the streets of Delhi. Thank you Colin.

Rudy Roels’s passion is photography. His pictures have been published in the travel magazines from Discovery Expeditions. His stunning photos of children in Gujarat speak volumes.

Luca Fabbozzo lives in Italy. He is a self taught photographer, focusing on social reportage photography. His pictures of children living in Dharavi slums in Mumbai are arresting.

And lastly, a big thanks to Menaka who writes about her interesting travels here.

Vipin Mishra is a National Award winning musician. He wrote the song “Aaj Kal” after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, in the memory of those who lost their lives.Thank you Vipin. Here are the lyrics of the song translated in English:

You smile from the photographs,
as if you will come and console me.
You gave so much.
I had so much to tell you.You were my life,
Now every second asks of me,
How shall I live without you? These days,
I don’t dream,
I can’t bear the days.
I walk uneasy.
I am in pieces, these days. What matters your creed, your religion,
if your heart is not humane?
He was a brother, friend and son to someone,
He was someone’s love, someone’s life. You were my life,
Now every second asks of me,
How shall I live without you?

These days,
I don’t dream,
I can’t bear the days.
I walk uneasy.
I am in pieces, these days.

Here are some resources for the statistics in the movie:
300 million poor people in India | 17 million child laborers in India | 50 million women missing | Fastest growing millionaires
